Kentucky Lake Marina & Campground Upgrades

The renovation and rejuvenation of Cane Creek continues…

Kentucky Lake marina renovations

As the saying goes ‘time flies by when you are having fun!’… And it has certainly been fun for us to continue to improve and grow Cane Creek facilities since new owners took over the site in Fall 2017. We’re never complacent, and always looking to improve, but we are proud to reflect on how far the facility has come over that period of time. Here are a few highlighted renovations and enhancements so far at our Kentucky Lake Marina and Campground:

Fall 2017

  • Renovation of on-site Manager’s Residence
  • Enhanced all campground access roads with fresh gravel
  • Bathhouse restoration– new roof, fresh paint, new fixtures

Spring 2018

  • Dock Repairs– added new flotation and refurbished all docks
  • Campground store interior upgraded, including finishing in reclaimed barn wood, and opened for customers
  • Site reopened with 25 renovated campsites

Summer 2018

  • Added complementary WiFi for store and campground
  • Dock electrical upgrades made to meet state fire marshal standards

Fall 2018

  • New LED street lighting was added to the campground
  • Project to enhance campsites with concrete bases began

Winter 2018

  • To enhance security, video cameras were added to each dock
  • To improve safety and deter non-registered guests from walking on the docks, ‘No Fishing’ signs were added to make it clear that fishing is prohibited from the docks

Spring 2019

  • New, additional campsites created– 45 sites now available
  • Shoreline enhancements completed, including removal of brush and small trees and trimming of lower branches to enhance the views of the lake from campsites, particularly from the first part of the campground as you enter
  • The WiFi network around the store and campgrounds was enhanced further
  • Security was enhanced further, with the addition of a number of security cameras on docks and throughout the exterior of the store and campgrounds recording motion alerts
  • An ice machine was added to the Campground Store, giving guests access to fresh ice made on-site
  • A laundry facility added to the store, including a new washer and dryer
  • A fuel dock was added to A dock, with 24/7 gas service available from May 2019

Winter 2019

  • Historically, Cane Creek water has been shut off at the first sign of frost (usually around mid-November) and turned back on around mid-March. By winter 2019 year-round water facilities had been added to all campsites.

Spring 2020

  • Enhancements were made to the boat ramp, including repairs to improve the surface under water at the end of the ramp

Fall 2020

  • Dilapidated cabin was demolished and replaced with 2 new campsites
  • More campsites added– bringing the total number to 60 sites now available
